Fall 2022

Lots to celebrate in the Jones household this year! Jaime finished her Master's degree in January and started a new career as a speech therapist. Our firstborn babe turned 18 in May and then graduated from high school in June. June also marked the 20th anniversary of the day Jon put a ring on it and made Jaime a Jones. We decided on a trip to Spain in July to mark all these occasions, and we're still riding out that sunny Spanish vibe in August. What a treat to soak in the architecture, the countryside vistas, the salty Balearic Sea, and the 3-hour meals! We also spent some time in the Priorat winegrowing region, where terraced, 100% dry-farmed vineyard plots zigzag over the rugged rocky hillsides. *Sigh*

Charmed, relaxed, and inspired, we're back to it in our own beautiful countryside. We bottled up the 2020 Paravel vintage before we left and now we're ready to present it to you.

We’re one of the few who made it out of 2020 with wines fit to bottle. The Glass Fire decimated many vineyards and choked many of those left standing with smoke. Jon was determined to try and see, since our grapes made it through. Diligent testing, racking and patient barrel aging paid off with some 2020 reds that defied the odds and that we're proud to offer.

2020 Howell Mountain Estate Petite Sirah, “THE ARBITER”

The second vintage from our estate vineyard. Brambled blackberry, honey, lemonade, black tea and toasted graham cracker (mmm, s'mores) with hints of resinous black pepper, nectarine skin, cherry pie, candied raspberry, cedar plank, starfruit and guava. Ultra smooth and slippery entry of bright blackberry, tangy taffy, and a flinty minerality. Deep concentrated dark fruit mid-palate with hints of sage, peppercorn, and decadent blueberry pie, seamlessly transition to a long, rich finish of dark chocolate.

2020 Howell Mountain Henry Brothers Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon

Sweet root beer and blackberry juice entry with ripe raspberry, brown sugar, fresh- cracked black pepper, juicy plum, cedarwood and black cherry fruit leather. Complete and polished tannins with a fruit-forward entry of strawberry, muddled raspberry, and salted caramel. A rich mid-palate of blackberry candy, sticky bun, mocha and candy apple to a lengthy dark chocolate and cocoa nib finish with excellent acidity.

Petite Sirah is limited to wine club allocations. Large formats of Petite Sirah and Cab are available on a first come, first served basis. Inquire about pricing.

Salut, cuidat y bon dia,

Jon and Jaime Jones
